FAQs
Is the Night at the Triad an open mic?
No, we are not an open mic and do not accept sign-ups. This is a pre-planned setlist featuring professional musicians from the UWS Four Hands Collective. Our musical directors, Antongiulio Foti and Matt Baker, select a theme for the evening and arrange a fitting program with the artists of their choice.
How can I perform?
Our shows prioritize community. Every performance features local musicians who have become our friends over the years. You must be interested in contributing to our community, not just an opportunity to perform. If you’re keen on meeting a vibrant, creative, kind network of people, please contact us or come by our regular coffee place! You can also come meet us at Matt Baker’s Hit the Stage Open mic night at the Triad.
Are you a company or non-profit?
We are not a company or non-profit. We are a group of Upper West Siders who are passionate about supporting our local friends and boosting their performance careers. In other words, we’re just a group of regular people rallying around the amazing artists we’ve met. That said, we are working toward 501c3 status so that we can better support the performers in our community.
How can I keep up with the performers?
You can find their information on the Performers page, and see their upcoming shows on the Calendar. Our performers are also available for private gigs and teaching. Check out our Instagram for the most up-to-date show postings.
I bought a ticket, but something came up and I can’t make it. Is a refund possible?
As a community organization, we would love to be able to accommodate everyone’s needs, however, if we are not able to resell that ticket in the remaining time window before the show, that money comes directly out of the artists’ pockets. We don’t have profits or an organizational budget to cover the loss. Consider selling your ticket to a friend or even donating it to a struggling musician who desperately wants to attend but can’t afford a ticket. We unfortunately are not able to provide refunds.
Is this dinner and a show?
The Triad serves a limited food and drink selection. Don’t come expecting a full meal, but casual snacks will be available and there is a restaurant downstairs.
What’s the vibe of the show?
The show has two main elements. One, a variety of carefully curated world-class talent performing their favorite music in two crafted sets. Two, a community hang where we get to meet these super talented local artists and connect with neighbors and friends. The shows are always packed, but we pride ourselves on having the most respectful audience around. Attentive, supportive, fun.
Is it bring your own alcohol?
No. Drinks are served by the Triad’s bar, and we suggest a two drink minimum, so that the serving staff can get paid for their service, and the Triad can continue to host shows like ours.
Is it first come first serve seating, should I get there early?
Yes and no. If you have purchased a $50 reserved seat, your seat will be carefully selected by Craig and Bill. If you purchased a $25 balcony seat, you should arrive early to select a good seat as these are first come first served. Our last show sold out and we had 20-30 people standing in the aisles!!
$50 is a lot. Why is it so expensive?
The price of admission ensures that we can pay for the venue and pay our performers. Considering the range of talent you’re seeing from musicians who have performed at places like Carnegie Hall and Birdland, you’re getting a lot for your money.
What's the show format?
One hour long set of music, including numerous world class performers in a variety of genres, will be followed by a 30 minute intermission that will allow us to mingle and get to know each other and the artists. After the second hour long set of music, we will have time to hang out and connect with the community and the artists, before we close up at around 10:30 or 11.
Where is the Triad Theater, and is it accessible?
The Triad Theater is on the second floor at 158 72nd Street above the dumpling restaurant. There is an elevator to the second floor. Just ask one of our hosts. We are happy to assist you.
